近日，我校視神經科學與幹細胞工程研究院、永利姚凱教授團隊的研究成果“新的基因編輯技術逆轉小鼠視力損失”，獲選為國際頂級期刊Journal of Experimental Medicine（《實驗醫學雜志》）封面論文并受到了國際權威專家的廣泛贊譽。
美國科學院院士Palczewski教授繼在Journal of Experimental Medicine上，以“Insights”專文點評後（“Eye on genome editing”, JEM, 2023; 220(5): e20230146），又在Cell旗下的國際頂級期刊Trends in Molecular Medicine上，以“Spotlight”再次專文高度評價了這項工作（“Saving eyesight, one gene at a time”），認為該項創新技術使得先導編輯治療任意的基因突變疾病再進一步（“This innovation brings prime editing technology one step closer to correcting disease-causing mutations at will”）。
與此同時，基因編輯技術開創人之一，美國科學院院士、HHMI研究員、哈佛大學David Liu（劉如謙）教授，對于該項研究也作出了充分肯定，并進行了廣泛宣傳。美國NIH眼科研究院（NEI）主任Michael Chiang評價，這是一項非常令人興奮的成果，并期待着能應用于臨床研究。
